The League for Sportsmen, Law Enforcement and Defense Congratulates Glenn Younkin’s Win in Virginia Governor’s Race

FAIRFAX, VA. – James Fotis, President of ‘The League’ issued the following statement congratulating Glenn Youngkin on his stunning come from behind victory over career politician and former governor, Terry McAuliffe. In September, McAuliffe was leading Youngkin by nearly 9 percentage points in a state President Biden carried by 10 points during the 2020 elections.

“On behalf of the Board of Directors of The League, I would like to congratulate Glenn Youngkin on his hard-fought victory and election as the next Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Glenn went to work every day to earn the trust of Virginia’s voters and that trust was rewarded on Tuesday. I know Glenn will take the same energy, enthusiasm, and common sense he showed on the campaign trail to the governor’s mansion in Richmond. Glenn Youngkin will work hard to protect our constitutional freedoms, restore parents’ trust in Virginia’s schools and help fix the rot in Richmond. Glenn is a staunch supporter of America’s law enforcement, and I know he will work tirelessly to bring back a common sense to governance in Richmond. That’s why ‘The League’ was proud to endorse his campaign.”

In addition to Glenn Youngkin’s resounding victory on Tuesday, League -endorsed candidates Winsome Sears and Jason Miyares were elected lieutenant governor and attorney general, respectively. Further adding to Democrat woes, the House of Delegates, where the Democrats held a 55-45 margin, flipped and Republicans will now take control when the House convenes in January 2022 for its next legislative session. The Senate did not have elections this year and will remain under the control of the Democrats.

“Despite tens of millions of dollars spent by national Democrats, teachers’ unions, and gun control groups on behalf of Terry McAuliffe, Hala Ayala, Mark Herring, and local Democrat candidates for the House of Delegates, Virginia voters firmly rejected the leftwing agenda on Tuesday. ‘The League’ looks forward to playing an even greater role next year during the 2022 midterms,” continued Fotis.
